I have seen a few different blogs around the internets talking about love languages recently {Cupcakes and Cashmere and The Macarthurs Lately}. So I was curious as to what my own love language was, and that of my husbands. So we tried out the quiz online {found here}.
"The highest score indicates your primary love language - how you really understand your partner’s expressions of love. It’s common to have two high scores (the highest score being 12), although one language tends to have a slight edge for most people. The lower scores in your profile indicate those languages you seldom use to communicate love and which probably don’t affect you on an emotional level in your relationship."
Michelle's Love Language:
12 Quality Time
9 Acts of Service
6 Words of Affirmation
2 Physical Touch
1 Receiving Gifts
Alex's Love Language:
10 Quality Time
9 Acts of Service
6 Physical Touch
5 Words of Affirmation
0 Receiving Gifts
So now that we knew what our love language was, we wanted to know more about it. Luckily the quiz broke that down for us. Here is a brief synopsis of our top 2 languages:
Quality Time: In
the vernacular of Quality Time, nothing says, "I love you," like full,
undivided attention. Being there for this type of person is critical,
but really being there – with the TV off, fork and knife down, and all
chores and tasks on standby – makes your significant other feel truly
special and loved. Distractions, postponed dates, or the failure to
listen can be especially hurtful. Quality Time also means sharing
quality conversation and quality activities.Acts of Service
Can vacuuming the floors really be an expression of love? Absolutely! Anything you do to ease the burden of responsibilities weighing on an "Acts of Service" person will speak volumes. The words he or she most want to hear: "Let me do that for you." Laziness, broken commitments, and making more work for them tell speakers of this language their feelings don't matter. Finding ways to serve speaks volumes to the recipient of these acts.
I was not suprised that Alex and I both got Quality Time as our biggest love language. We both like being around each other {heck we even work for the same company, that is a whole lot of time spent together}. Maybe we get along so well because our languages are very similar.
No matter what our love languages are. We seem to make it work. It's probably because Alex makes me laugh so hard. #heisakeeper
